Holy Smokes is a competition BBQ team based in Dublin, GA. We compete regularly in Pro Competitions sanctioned by KCBS- Kansas City Barbeque Society, MBN – Memphis Barbeque Network, GBA – Georgia Barbeque Association, and FBA Florida Barbeque Association events. While event scheduling always remains flexible to meet the geographic needs of our partners we normally focus on competitions located in the Southern and Mid-Western United States.
Holy Smokes regularly competes against the nation’s top BBQ cooks and has most recently appeared on the Destination America’s hit TV Series BBQ Pitmasters where we were crowned Georgia State BBQ Champion. Our team also participates in several community service projects having cooked to benefit Operation Barbeque Relief, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and The University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The Holy Smokes Competition BBQ Team is truly a “TEAM” effort. The team consists of Dionn Lanton and her husband Gary.
For over 13 years we have been cooking competition BBQ, winning the big checks and breaking hearts. With our experience and our closely-guarded BBQ secrets we regularly turn-in some of the best slow-smoked meat cooked in the KCBS and MBN barbeque competition circuits… and we have the trophies to prove it.
Every year we take-on more and more contests, go head-to-head with better and better barbeque cooking teams and refine our skills with each and every showing. This year we are planning to travel all across the country… showing off our skills to a whole new group of pit masters.
The Smokehouse Mafia competes in KCBS sanctioned events in the Southeast, with a concentration in their home state of North Carolina and its neighbor to the south. They are comprised of three members, Brian Thompson, Michael Eller and Andrew Rasmussen. Brian and Andrew began competing in 2009 with another team. In 2010, they struck out on their own and formed the Mafia. In late 2010, Michael Eller joined ”the family”.
The Smokehouse Mafia is comprised of three great friends (Andrew Rasmussen, Michael Eller & Brian Thompson) that love to BBQ. They understand that BBQ competitions are as much about the spectators and the towns that host them, as the competition itself. They love a contest that draws a crowd and they enjoy traveling to different towns and soaking in the local culture.
