Kid-Friendly Holiday Treats: Buffalo Cheese Stars and Holiday Party Mix
Whether you’re making dishes to take to gatherings with friends, family or coworkers, kids watch their parents cook a lot during the holiday season. This year, maybe it’s time to slow down a little and let them help.
There are many kid-friendly recipes that they can easily join in on. Depending on their ages, kids can either help you get the job done twice as fast or twice as slow, but either way you will definitely make special family time memories during the holiday season!
Christmas Morning Sausage and Cheese Muffins
1 lb. mild ground pork sausage
1 cup Moore's Original Marinade
1 tsp. onion powder
3 cups all-purpose baking mix
1 (10.75 oz) can condensed fiesta nacho cheese soup
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
3/4 cup buttermilk (water or milk will work too)
1-2 cups Moore's Honey BBQ Sauce
Buffalo Cheese Stars
Marinate sausage in Moore's Original Marinade for 30 Minutes
Cook sausage and onion powder in a large skillet over medium to med-high heat, stirring until it crumbles and no longer pink. Drain and cool.
Preheat oven to 375.
Let the kids mix sausage, baking mix, and shredded cheese in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, stir together the soup and buttermilk.
Add the soup mixture to the sausage mixture, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Scoop the mixture into lightly greased mini muffin tins, filling to tops of cups.
CAREFULLY, place the muffin tins into the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until lightly browned.
Now everybody gets to help clean up!
Serve with a small bowl of Moore's Honey BBQ Sauce for delicious dipping
½ cup (1 stick) butter, salted, room temperature
2 cups Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, room temperature
1 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
½ t. salt
4-5 t. Moore’s Buffalo Wing Sauce
Moore’s Holiday Party Mix
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
In a mixer, cream the butter and the cheese
Add salt, flour, and Moore’s Buffalo Sauce and continue to mix until combined thoroughly
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface until it’s ¼ “ thick and then let the kids cut them out using a star-shaped cookie cutter
Bake for 14-16 minutes or until golden brown
2 tbsp. Moore's Original Marinade
1 12-oz. box Crispix cereal
1 cup pretzels
2 tsp lemon juice
Dash of sugar
½ tsp onion salt (or powder)
1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
6 tbsp. margarine melted
2 tsp garlic powder
Dash of seasoned salt
1 pkg. red and green M&Ms
1 bag cheese puff balls
1 cup raisins
1 cup nuts
Combine Moore’s Original, cereal, pretzels, lemon juice, sugar, onion salt, and Worcestershire with melted butter
Bake in a 13" x 9" x 2" pan in the oven at 255° F for 45 minutes while stirring every 15 minutes
Season to taste
Let the kids add cheese puff balls, red and green M&Ms, raisins, nuts and mix it all together
